MEALS IN HEELS:DO-AHEAD DISHES FOR THE DINNER PARTY DIVABy Jennifer Joyce; Murdoch Books, $39.93This is a very feminine, style-conscious book. Its illustrations look like sketches for a fashion collection and feature a glamorous, tousle-haired domestic goddess who poses at kitchen sinks, grocery shops and dining tables in fancy frocks and vertiginous heels. Jennifer Joyce's aim, however, is down-to-earth: to show readers how to "plan, cook and present with style and ease" so they have more time to spend with their guests. The menus are themed €” from "Ladies Who Lunch" to "Indian Spice Trail" €” and the recipes comprehensive. There are also tips on presentation. Girly but potentially useful.
